Poem 6
Bourbon Burns
As our memories bring up the past what we need is something to cut them out
Bourbon burns
We are lying there looking at the stars from the back of your truck wishing for something we can’t have
Bourbon burns
A shooting star shoots across the sky giving us hope that at least tonight we can hold on to one another oh but how the
Bourbon burns
Memory after memory creeps into the night air threatening to stifle what we have
Bourbon burns
Holding on to each other tight we let the memories fade around us as the stars align
Bourbon burns
We let the slow burn light our way to each other, holding on for just one night
Bourbon burns
. Close Your Eyes and Get Closer
Let’s lay down
Close your eyes and get closer
Slide closer to me so I can hold you tight
Close your eyes and get closer
As we lay down let go of all those memories and pain
Close your eyes and get closer
Let everything go just for the moment we are together
Close your eyes and get closer
I’ll hold you tight and help you push the pain away
Close your eyes and get closer
Let’s lay down, give it all away to me, let me help take it all away
Close your eyes and get closer
