Bottom Shelf

Here we are once again, deciding where to go. We can’t be together because you say it’s hard for you, and I don’t understand.

I pull that bottle from the bottom shelf

We had an agreement; it was just us in the darkness of night no one else had to know but now you feel guilty for what I don’t understand

I pull that bottle from the bottom shelf

Your voice cracks as you tell me a sorted history, one that doesn’t make sense to me and I can tell doesn’t make sense to you, it’s just your excuse

I pull that bottle from the bottom shelf

Your guilt eats at you, and I can understand that but there is no need, it was a playful time between us, nothing more nothing less but still

I pull that bottle from the bottom shelf

I’m not sure why I get bothered at your antics, this is an ongoing thing with you. It’s always one step up and thirteen down so that’s why

I pull that bottle from the bottom shelf

That’s the last call between us, I hate to give it up but all I really need is to

I pull that bottle from the bottom shelf

  • Take Me Away

As we lay there talking about the future and where we wanted to go, both of us knew it was a fantasy because there was no way that you could

Take me away

We made plans about driving to Nevada and seeing all the sights along the way and having an adventure like no other

Take me away

I talked about all the memories we were going to make and you just laughed the more excited I became

Take me away

You described your family history that could be traced through the fly over states and how you wanted to see where your family went

Take me away

Such grand plans we made lying in one another’s arms, such grand plans that we knew were just talk in the middle of the night

Take me away

We both became silent thinking of what it could’ve been but there’s no such luck

Take me away is all I could say
