Writing Lyrical Poetry

For some reason lyrical poetry has taken over me. I am not even sure that’s a real thing, but what I mean by that is that I am writing poems in the format of a song without the music attached. It just has repeating lines like a chorus and it is about what country songs are written about; love, loss, and life. There is just something about it that is therapeutic and healing in a weird way. Most of the poems have nothing to do with me, they are just about life as I have seen it around me lately.

Each poem is unique on its on and they don’t intersect really but they could be read together and you’d get a story out of it. They are all about a couple who are losing one another and how hard it is going to be on them. That right there seems to be the very definition of a country song. This couple is experiencing heartbreak, heartache, and love lost. There is just something about pouring all this out into poetry form and seeing those written words come to life. So as I post them I hope you enjoy them and feel the loss, pain ,and love that is so evident.
